For the 3rd Annual Magic City Black Expo, we teamed up with 100 Urban Entrepreneurs and The CASHFLOW to present “100 Urban Entrepreneurs Business-Pitch Competition”. Hundreds of business owners from across the region submitted business plans online to enter the contest, with 20 finalists selected to deliver a 60-second business pitch at MCBE 2011. Winning business owners received $10,000 – YES, $10,000 – in business funding, along with an extended mentorship opportunity courtesy of the phenomenal 100 Urban Entrepreneurs team.
At the 2011 MCBE, two Birmingham-area entrepreneurs walked away with $10,000 each, including Carl Colvin of Carl’s Tire Service and LaTara Johnson of Elle Danielle Photography. Atlanta’s Anthony Joiner of The Weekend Collection also received $10,000 for his venture.
100 Urban Entrepreneurs is a non-profit on a mission to highlight the urban community’s untapped business potential and demonstrate, to an additional 1 million-plus entrepreneurs, a proven path forward to business and financial success.
